Dancer Tattoo Meaning

Grace, motion, expression, and beauty in human poise.

In Hindu tradition, the cosmos itself is Shiva's dance - the Tandava. In his form as Nataraja, Lord of Dance, Shiva dances within a ring of fire, one foot crushing ignorance, the other raised in liberation. The rhythm of his dance creates and destroys universes.

In Greek myth, the Muses danced with Apollo on Olympus. The word 'choreography' comes from 'choros' - the Greek word for dance. In many African traditions, dance is not performance but participation in the divine, a way of embodying spirits and ancestors.
