The Fates Tattoo Meaning

Destiny, the woven thread, time, and the fate spun for us all.

The Moirai - Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos - were the three Fates of Greek mythology. Clotho spun the thread of life, Lachesis measured its length, and Atropos cut it with her shears. Even Zeus himself was bound by their decisions. They represented the inescapable destiny that connected all lives.

In Norse tradition, the Norns served the same function: Urd (past), Verdandi (present), and Skuld (future) wove the web of fate at the roots of Yggdrasil. In both traditions, the image of weaving emphasized that all lives are interconnected - pull one thread and the whole tapestry responds.
