The Twins Tattoo Meaning
Duality, mirroring, kinship, and the soul's counterpart.
Castor and Pollux, the Dioscuri, were twin brothers born of different fathers - Castor mortal, Pollux divine. When Castor was killed, Pollux begged Zeus to let him share his immortality. Zeus placed them both in the sky as the constellation Gemini, together forever.
In many mythologies, twins represent the dual nature of existence: Romulus and Remus founded Rome; Apollo and Artemis ruled sun and moon; in Yoruba tradition, the ibeji twins carry special spiritual significance. The twin motif speaks to our sense that we are not complete alone.
